Female Protagonism in the Brazilian Army: Hierarchical Integration and Institutional Transformation (2024–2026)

This scientific article analyzes the reconfiguration of the institutional identity of the Brazilian Army based on two simultaneous historical milestones occurring between 2024 and 2026: the nomination of Medical Colonel Cláudia Lima Gusmão Cacho to the generalate and the enlistment of the first 1,010 women through the Voluntary Military Service. The objective is to investigate how the concurrent occupation of the strategic top and the operational base by women alters power dynamics and military paradigms. Through qualitative research and documentary analysis, the study discusses the "glass ceiling" phenomenon and the high social demand for voluntary military service, evidenced by over 33,000 registered candidates. The results suggest that the Brazilian Army is transitioning from sectoral inclusion to full integration, where female representation ceases to be a technical exception to become a structural component of the Force. The trend indicates that female presence across all hierarchical layers consolidates a new model of military professionalism in Brazil.
