Legitimacy of the use of lethal force by law enforcement officials
Keywords:

Typical conduct that fits as both self-defense and strict compliance with legal duty should be treated as legal duty because of the specificity of this exclusionary. A police officer on duty who uses lethal force in self- or third-party self-defense does so in strict compliance with the legal duty to preserve public order and the safety of persons. If the use of lethal force as a first resort to suspects carrying a firearm is the only option that meets proportionality in this case, it will be the lawful duty of the officer.
